Took a lovely walk through the countryside yesterday outside of Fort Augustus. Took a photograph looking down from both sides of a bridge over the River Tarff that flows into Loch Ness.
I have been for some reason into bridges recently. There are some really great old roadway bridges across the Delaware River starting just above Trenton.
I have really been looking at bridges lately. This is the Rt. 11 bridge across the Potomac. There is some work being done on it and you can see some scaffolding in the photo.
Williamsport on the Potomac River was also a port on the old Chesapeake and Ohio Canal. The aqueducts carrying the canal over rivers and streams are fantastic structures.
This is a railroad bridge over the Potomac River at Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.
Bending straight lines into nice curves is fun!
The Rockville Railroad Bridge, spanning the Susquehanna River above Harrisburg, was completed in 1902, and was and still is the longest stone masonry arch railroad viaduct in the world. In other words, it is big and pretty neat to go and look at.
